Drying process

After harvesting, the tobacco leaves are dried (cured) and fermented. We have air cured, fire cured, flue cured and sun cured tobaccos. The drying technique affects the flavour, strength and colour of the tobacco.

This produces various kinds of tobacco, such as Virginia (golden yellow) and Burley (brown). After drying, the tobacco must ‘rest’ before it can be shipped and processed.
